2014 Dr. Jacob Mckay Awards – now accepting applications

Description: 
Adult Aboriginal students are invited to apply for one of four $1,000 awards to support their education. The Dr. Jacob McKay Awards are provided by the Indigenous Adult & Higher Learning Assoication (IAHLA), which is a non-profit, independent society that supports the growth of the Aboriginal-controlled adult education and post-secondary institutes of British Columbia. These awards are open to Aboriginal students who have attended an IAHLA institute and will either be continuing at the IAHLA institute or attending a BC public institution in the fall of 2014. Application deadline: March 7, 2014

New Relationship Trust Bursary Program

IAHLA and FNESC have been informed that the second call for New Relationship Trust  Bursaries is now open. NRT Bursaries are available to First Nation students pursuing a  post-secondary education from a recognized institution. Bursaries are awarded to  students pursuing trades certificates and diplomas. Funds are awarded on a first come  first serve basis until funds are exhausted. For more information and an application  form, visit http://www.newrelationshiptrust.ca/funding/for-students.

Norman Taylor Memorial - Aboriginal Financial Management Scholarship and Bursary Program

Description: 
IAHLA and FNESC have been informed that the Norman Taylor Memorial Scholarship and Bursary Program for the 2013 / 2014 academic year is now accepting applications. Bursaries are available to Aboriginal students attending university or college as a full-time student in an academic program such as Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Commerce and/or other finance related programs. Bursaries are open to AFOA Canada members and non-members. Four bursaries in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded. Professional Development Scholarships are available to AFOA Canada members who wish to take AFOA Canada's online courses for the Certified Aboriginal Financial Management (CAFM) Program, Certified Aboriginal Professional Administrator (CAPA) Program or Professional Development courses, or to attend AFOA's National Conference. The Professional Development Scholarship is intended to offset full registration costs for AFOA courses and/or registration and travel related costs to attend the National Conference (February 2014 in Halifax, NS). Two applicants who wish to enrol in one on-line AFOA course will receive scholarships with a value of up to $800 each. Two applicants who wish to attend the AFOA National Conference will receive scholarships that include conference registration (value up to $800) and travel related costs (up to $2,000). The deadline for applications is July 26, 2013.

 

KPMG 2013 Aboriginal Student Awards Application

Description: 
KPMG 2013 Aboriginal Student Awards Application IAHLA and FNESC have been informed that the KPMG Aboriginal Scholarship Program for the 2013 / 2014 academic year is now accepting applications. There is the opportunity for Aboriginal students enrolled in a post-secondary institution and pursuing studies in business or First Nations financial management to receive one of five scholarships valued at $1,500 each. The scholarship program is designed to recognize the Aboriginal community and offer financial assistance to Aboriginal students from across Canada. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2013.
